It wasn’t the fastest or best handling or had the best mileage, but I’ll be damned if it wasn’t a great cruiser when everything worked. Shame that rust and not so great maintenance took it from the world. 10/10 would recommend. I miss regular cars that know what they are.

I have a friend who road trips a Maxima a fair bit for work. She loves it for that.

If only I had the money to fix the suspension, the windshield, the tires, the rust...
Wait, what do you mean that was more than the car was worth?

It was the 3.5!

I have always thought this generation of Maxima was great looking, and they were a tad sleeper-y for a mid- 90s sedan.

The 3 liter was an awesome engine. Superior NVH to the 3.5.
But yeah, the 4th gen chassis was shit. I don’t miss it.

W orked with a lady that had a really nice blue one of those - it was the refresh with the 3.5 where Nissan put a little more money back into the interior and had those cool taillights. Not a super corner carver but really pretty quick for the time - kind of a sleeper.

I used one of these as an enduro racer at the local speedway. Popular choice, as a good 1/4 of all the cars there were this gen Maxima. Mine only had the 3.0 in a sea of 3.5’s, but it held its own very well. We all lost to a GTI VR6.
